Amazing stories from past students of the Winterberg School Trust
Joseph’s STORY
Joseph grew up in the Winterberg region and attended the WST from 2000 to 2011. He excelled in his studies and was recognised as a student with huge potential.
He received sponsorship and a bursary to attend St Andrews College in Grahamstown, where he continued to make us proud. Joseph has just graduated from Rhodes University, having successfully completed his degree in Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Management and Economics.
Joseph frequently returns to the WST. In December 2016 he was the guest speaker at the school’s end of year prize giving, where he was able to talk about his experiences and encourage today’s students to make the most of their schooling and reach for opportunities to build a better future for themselves.

busisiwe’s story
Having attended WST, Busi got a bursury to St Aidan’s College, Grahamstown to study hospitality. She went on to spend nine years as a chef at Shamwari Game Reserve, where she refined her catering and cooking skills, and gained experience in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Busi worked at the popular coffee shop and cafe in Tarkastad – The Story – where she ran the kitchen and served up fantastic breakfasts, lunches and treats.
Busi has run a series of adult cooking classes at the WST for people within the Winterberg community, with an emphasis on meals and foods that people can cook at home with limited experience, ingredients and equipment.
